Brain tumours affect people of all ages. There is a need for a better understanding of what causes them, how the brain reacts to them and how they behave and even greater need for better and more effective treatments. Any brain tumor is inherently serious and life-threatening because of its invasive and infiltrative character in the limited space of the intracranial cavity. However, brain tumors (even malignant ones) are not invariably fatal.

In order to put forward a stronger voice, the Brain Tumour Research group of charities united to form a representative body – The Brain Tumour Research Campaign. It was launched in 2008 specifically for fundraising for brain tumour research, and is a different organisation to its constituent members, it operates under its own steam.

Important Overlooked Hurdles With Regard To Injured Vets

Not everybody realizes how many veterans actually come home disabled. Fighting for your country is a scary thing, and the toll it takes on those that volunteer is both physical and mental. You’d be surprised at just how things can be stacked against disabled veterans when they get home as well. Our friends at Disabled Veterans National Foundation wholeheartedly agree.

Around a third of those in combat, end up coming home disabled in some way. Whether they are wounded in combat with a physical disability, or are stricken with a mental one because of the extreme stress.

You’re going to find that in some cases, many come home with post traumatic stress disorder, even if they have no physical problems. That can be just as bad, if not worse in some instances.

The numbers on how many are actually out of a job and disabled is pretty staggering. Most not even aware of what options they have to take advantage of when it comes to the disability help that’s out there.

Finding Help Pertaining To Vets

Military service is hard enough to get through, without having to worry about what happens when you come home. Many enlist the help of Disabled Veterans National Foundation for this purpose. But that’s something that tons of disabled veterans are having to deal with on a daily basis. But it’s not something that they, or really anyone should have to struggle through alone.

Coming home is a difficult time for vets, as they have to find a way to readjust to life outside a war zone in some cases. That’s hard, to almost impossible for some, so it’s vital to find aid.

There are programs for those looking to adjust to life off the battlefield, so that they can reintegrate more successfully within society. That’s one of the hardest things to do but there is tons of help for you out there.

Disabled Veterans National Foundation Urges Passage of Bill Helping Homeless Veterans

WASHINGTON–The Disabled Veterans National Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping men and women who come home with emotional and physical wounds after serving our country, is urging Congress to pass a bill ensuring homeless Veterans have better access to housing and homeless assistance programs.

Addressing issues specific to homeless Veterans has been part of the DVNF mission since its inception in 2007, and gives the organization an edge in addressing the needs of Veterans who find themselves homeless after returning home from active duty.

The bill would create a new Housing and Urban Development executive position to handle the housing affairs of homeless Veterans. The new special assistant for Veterans’ affairs would ensure that homeless Veterans have fair access to housing and HUD homeless assistance programs, and would coordinate with the Department of Veterans Affairs on housing issues. The bill, sponsored by Rep. Al Green (D-Texas), passed the Senate 414-5 on March 26th.

Ways To Obtain Relief For Our Soldiers

It’s easy for veterans to be lost when they return home after having fought for their country. But it’s even easier for them to be forgotten, as everybody else’s lives back home have just continued without them. That’s why disabled veterans sometimes need help getting back into the flow. It’s a good thing that Disabled Veterans National Foundation exists to serve these needs.

The life change between being involved in a war, and being back home in America is pretty drastic. That’s why the civilian support groups that exist, as well as support services are absolutely vital.

When you’re suffering from something like post traumatic stress disorder, you need a support system to help you sleep at night. That’s what many services provide, so that you can get your mind right, and then worry about everything else.

But that’s not where support ends, and there are plenty of private sector agencies that are completely dedicated to helping the troops. In fact, a ton of non-profit services exist for that purpose.

Recycling Your Old Computers

Many progressive towns and cities are either already recycling or are thinking about recycling old computers. Numerous municipalities already do this with television sets, but not so many do it with computers.

There are quite a few reusable parts in a computer when you think of it, but most owners just throw their old computers away when they stop working or become ‘too slow’.

Then they go out and purchase a new one which has precisely the same DVD player as they just put in the bin. That goes for the internet card, the hard drive and the modem and other bits and pieces too, I am certain. There might even be toxic substances in the chips that could pollute the soil at the landfill site.

It will almost certainly be standard practice in the not too distant future to recycle computers and other items of electronic equipment. In fact there are already some places that gratefully accept ‘old’ computers, although there are not a lot that recycle the parts out of broken ones.

That’s unfortunate, and really not what should be greeting our disabled veterans in need of help.

But that’s why the programs are out there if you know what to do. For example, there are veterans assistance loans that just about everybody can count on. This way, you have time to get secure again.

With these loans, you can afford to live once more, once you’re out of the military. That way, you’re going to be able to pay for everything like house or rent payments, food, utilities, etc.
